The Department for Education published the latest version of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS, 2025) in July 2025. The changes were widely consulted upon during 2024 and come into effect from 1st September 2025.
This update represents significant changes to the EYFS safeguarding requirements. Updates include safer recruitment, child absences, safer eating, staff training, whistleblowing procedures, paediatric first aid expectations, and children's privacy during intimate care.
These changes strengthen safeguarding and ensure higher standards across all settings registered on the Early Years Register. Staying compliant is essential - and now is the time to prepare.
