The Out of School Alliance has teamed up with SAFE, a community interest company which specialises in providing training, support and guidance on child protection issues, to offer our members significant discounts on SAFE services.

SAFE offers online child protection training courses, CRB checks, up to the minute child protection information and a full range of consultancy services.

Through membership of SAFE, you can access their Child Protection Support Package including online guidance templates for policies and procedures, a review of your current safeguarding arrangements by a child protection expert, email support during business hours on any child protection issues that may arise and regular bulletins on child protection issues. Once your safeguarding arrangements meet their standards you can also use the SAFE logos within your publicity.

SAFE also provides online training courses in child protection:

• Introduction To Child Protection.
  A comprehensive child protection training course specifically designed for anyone who comes into contact with children, young people and families. It is compliant with local SCB requirements and also meets Ofsted's Level One criteria.
• Leading On Child Safeguarding.
  A child protection training course specifically developed for the nominated child protection lead and deputy, who have already completed an Introduction course. It is compliant with local SCB requirements as detailed in Working Together 2010 and "What to do if you're worried a child is being abused" 2006.

Discounts for OOSA members

A year's subscription to SAFE costs just £39.50 for not-for-profit organisations, but the fee for commercial organisations is usually £95.00 per year. OOSA members can purchase a commercial membership for just £49.50 if you run one or two clubs, and £85.00 if you run three or more clubs.

The online training courses usually cost £27.50 each, but OOSA members can purchase an online course for just £20.00.

How to claim your member discount

To obtain your discount on SAFE membership or on SAFE online training courses, when you register on their website:

1. Enter '1' as the 'number of sites' (even if you have more than that)
2. Choose 'small commercial' as the type of your organisation
3. Enter your SAFE discount code in the 'Promotion code' box.

When you go to pay for your purchase the appropriate discount will then be applied to your order.
